Job Purpose:
The Content Writer is a key individual contributor who shares the organization’s story across programs, audiences and channels. As a strong player on a content team, this role works collaboratively with designers, channel experts, marketing managers and program/product teams to create new content, elevate existing content and build campaigns. This role requires a commitment to on-brand marketing communication tactics with a constant focus on member/customer-first approaches. The Content Writer brings together a love of copywriting and marketing to create content that drives awareness, engagement, acquisition and retention/loyalty.
To successfully fulfill the responsibilities of the position, this role will work both in agile pods and cross-functional groups, delivering keen discernment and sound execution.
The ideal candidate has a curious, creative mindset and is passionate about good writing. With an audience-focused marketing lens, the Content Writer brings experience creating long- and short-form content that excites, informs and drives results.

Content Ideation & Production
Fluidly creates content in a range of formats: articles, emails, digital and print tactics
Balances supporting the marketing content needs of the California Dental Association’s family of companies, including The Dentists Insurance Company
Works on editing/writing projects individually, as well as collaborates on complex projects with the content strategy manager, marketing colleagues and internal program/product owners
Adapts and leverages content for use across multiple mediums and platforms
Excels at applying CDA and subsidiary brand voices across projects and media
Ensures tone and messaging consistently reflect the organization’s brand and values
Keeps up with content trends and makes recommendations for new/emerging opportunities
Interview members, industry leaders and subject matter experts for the purpose of delivering engaging and educational content on key topics
Openly receives and responds to feedback, takes in perspectives from all stakeholders
Uses experience, content best practices and brand best interest to guide decision-making
Actively participates in creative ideation and strategic planning sessions across teams
Uses data and insights collected from member/customer facing teams to inform content choices
Content Governance
Supports the development and implementation of standards and best practices for content creation, distribution/circulation, and improvement
Applies and helps maintain house style guides, brand standards and messaging maps
Cross-Functional Collaboration/Relationship Development
Build strong partnerships with marketing managers and program/product owners to keep pulse on program/product evolutions and impact on positioning
Partner with other content contributors, channel owners and design resources to ensure cohesive, compelling campaigns and communication tactics
Non-Essential Functions:
Perform other writing, editing and content management duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications or Marketing or English
5+ years of professional writing and editing experience, preferably in insurance, healthcare, banking and/or B2B marketing
Exceptional verbal communicator with strong presentation skills
Strong experience using Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
Experience with project management and collaboration tools (Sharepoint, JIRA, etc)
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with social media
Experience with content management systems
Must demonstrate diplomacy and tact while interacting with all levels within and outside of the organization
High degree of initiative and independence balanced with flexibility and collaborative style
Superior time management skills with demonstrated ability to problem-solve, multi-task and deliver against deadlines
