Reporting to the Director of Content Strategy and Media Relations, and collaborating closely with the Vice President of Marketing and Communications and the Web Developer, this role is central to delivering high-impact digital experiences. The ideal candidate brings a strong eye for detail, a passion for storytelling, and a knack for aligning content with brand voice and user needs.

The Digital Content Manager will not only curate and maintain compelling web content but will also lead the charge in leveraging emerging AI tools and systems to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and responsiveness in web workflows.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive web content strategy that aligns with Fresno Pacific University’s goals and objectives. Define target audiences and create tailored content that meets their needs and interests.
  • Create, curate, and edit high-quality, engaging content for the website—including articles, blog posts, and academic program descriptions. Collaborate with the Director of Enrollment Marketing to ensure program information is current, compelling, and strategically positioned.
  • Manage and update website content using a content management system (CMS), ensuring consistency, accuracy, and adherence to brand guidelines.
  • Leverage AI-enabled tools (e.g., grammar assistants, summarization tools, CMS-integrated AI features) to enhance content quality and streamline editing, updates, and restructuring workflows.
  • Implement SEO and AEO best practices to improve search visibility and ensure content performs well across traditional search engines and AI-powered discovery platforms.
  • Ensure all web content meets quality standards, is error-free, and reflects the university’s voice, tone, and style guidelines.
  • Collaborate with designers and developers to enhance user experience (UX), ensuring content is accessible, mobile-friendly, and visually engaging.
  • Use analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) to monitor web traffic, user engagement, and content performance. Apply data insights to refine content strategy and improve effectiveness.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Communications to adapt and promote web content across social media platforms, ensuring consistency in messaging and audience engagement.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including marketing, communications, enrollment, design, and development to support unified digital content goals.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging best practices in web content management, SEO, and digital storytelling.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a marketing, communications, or related digital content role
  • Strong understanding of both traditional and emerging communication channels
  • Experience with market research, analysis, and strategic planning
  • Familiarity with current trends, tools, and best practices in SEO and web content creation
  • Working knowledge of SEO strategy and implementation, including metatag creation and management
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Experience with Google Analytics and other web performance tools
  • Willingness to adopt and apply AI-supported tools to improve content accuracy, clarity, and efficiency
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong creative thinking, innovation, and problem-solving abilities
  • Sound professional judgment and attention to detail
  • Analytical skills to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously

Preferred:
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, digital media, or a related field
  • Experience writing and creating content specifically for higher education marketing
  • Familiarity with Adobe tools, particularly Photoshop and Acrobat
  • Comfort with technology, including troubleshooting basic technical issues
  • Proficiency in using project management software
  • Knowledge of backend web development concepts and systems

Environmental Conditions:
  • Indoors in a normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, fumes, vibrations, and temperature changes at least eighty percent (80%) of the time.
  • Frequent computer use at a workstation, up to eight hours per day.
  • Frequently work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
  • Drive personal or University vehicles to appointments.
  • Public contact position requiring professional apparel, personal hygiene, and grooming. 
Physical Demands:
  • This position typically functions indoors in an office environment with light to moderate noise associated with business office equipment. The position may involve travel for meetings and events.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: remain in a stationary position 80 % of the time, be able to move about inside the office to access file cabinets/office machinery etc., operate a computer and keyboard and other office productivity machinery such as calculators/copy machines/printers. The employee is occasionally required to position self to reach items on the floor and in high cabinetry. 
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Employee must be able to communicate with others to exchange information including both over the telephone and in-person communication with callers and community members and be able to read a computer screen and paper documents.

University Information

$54,080 to $61,360 is the starting annual salary for this role and reflects what Fresno Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition to compensation, Fresno Pacific University offers a competitive benefits package.
