Description JOB TITLE: Digital Content Manager

 

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Communications and Compliance Title IX Coordinator 

 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: In this role, the Digital Content Manager works under the Communications and Compliance Title IX Coordinator to manage many aspects of the division's communication program. The Digital Content Manager is responsible for developing and delivering consistent, high-quality content across all platforms to keep stakeholders engaged and informed about HCPS initiatives, decisions, programs, and events. The Digital Content Manager is responsible for the creation, distribution, and maintenance of high-quality digital content, ensuring it aligns with divisional goals. This role also provides essential administrative, technical, and logistical support to the division to ensure its smooth and efficient operation. Key duties include leading division-wide communications, coordinating large-scale events, and executing the media strategy.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Designs, executes, and annually updates division-wide media engagement strategy; creates and strengthens relationships with media; leads efforts to generate positive media coverage. 
  • Writes and edits division stories and edits multimedia content, press releases, media advisories, fact sheets, statements, and other news-related information.
  • Writes and edits remarks, speeches, and talking points for HCPS administration.
  • Supports school-based communication efforts through social media posts, videos, and bi-weekly parent newsletter. 
  • Supports communications for crisis management. 
  • Maintains the division website and ADA monitoring platforms.
  • Ensures all content is accessible and adheres to style guidelines and professional media standards.
  • Optimize web content for search engines (SEO) to increase visibility and engagement.
  • Creates and maintains user guides and other training resources for digital platforms and tools used by the division.
  • Processes and manages division documentation and records, ensuring information is current and easily accessible. 
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for technical support, troubleshooting, and escalating digital issues for parents and families.
  • Develops and manages a content calendar for all digital platforms, including websites, social media, email newsletters, and blogs.
  • Maintains relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and staff to promote awareness and support the division’s initiatives.
  • Builds and maintains positive relationships with regional agency communication directors, including County government, VDOE, health department, fire and safety, and law enforcement, to ensure effective, coordinated communications on critical issues.
  • Monitors, analyzes, and develops applicable responses to media coverage for the division.
  • Manages division survey software and related data reporting.
  • Monitors digital content performance using analytics tools, providing regular reports and actionable insights to refine the content strategy.
  • Helps manage and organize the division's digital assets, including photos, videos, and documents.
  • Experience with graphic design and video editing software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva).
  • Familiarity with social media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.) and content management systems (CMS) like WordPress.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 

A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Communications, English, Journalism, Marketing, or Information Technology, is preferred. Experience in parent and community engagement initiatives, with 5 or more years of experience in public relations or the community relations profession, is beneficial. With several years of experience in a digital marketing, content, or support role preferred. Or equivalent combination of education and experience
