Digital Content Specialist

About the Role 

The Digital Content Specialist (DCS) assists the Digital Content Manager with the development and deployment of market-critical, innovative learning content in various Elsevier/NHE products such as Sherpath courseware, Elsevier Adaptive Quizzing and other critical digital products. These products play a key role in the adoption of Elsevier’s market leading franchise titles that serve the Nursing and Heath Education faculty and students.  

 

This individual manages assigned digital projects from inception to production release utilizing digital content workflows, authoring tools, and technologies as appropriate. Serves as the day-to-day contact for internal and external digital content development partners including Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Instructional Designers (IDs), and global content vendors throughout the development process. 

 

Responsibilities 

  • Plans digital content development and delivery cadence.

  • Plays a key role in stand-up meetings with the internal and external content development partners. 

  • Ensures lead and peer review SMEs are delivering work products per schedule. 

  • Identifies potential issues with SMEs and works with the Digital Content Manager to find alternative approaches to mitigate risks. 

  • Manages and consolidates reviews from SMEs, queries SMEs and outsourced vendors as appropriate to ensure quality on-time content delivery. 

  • Works with internal team to develop and/or brings forth suggestions for improving existing writing, assessment, and instructional design guidelines. 

  • Performs high-level review of all stages of outlines, assessments, and content storyboards and sends them to the appropriate partners for detailed review. 

  • Coordinates with other participants and/or drives permission and art research as needed. 

  • Coordinates classification mapping, EAQ, and ancillary mapping tasks as needed with the help of internal and external resources. 

  • Coordinates delivery of build content and oversees UAT fixes and ensures gold delivery of assigned course product. 

  • Plays a key role in ensuring on-time delivery. 

 

Requirements 

  • Have a B.A./B.S. in English or related area.  

  • Have two or more years’ experience with digital content development. 

  • Demonstrate experience with media (online courses, multimedia, etc.).  

  • Be a self-starter with strong organizational, interpersonal, and written communication skills.  

  • Possess a flexible and creative approach to problem solving. Be resourceful and decisive, with attention to detail 

  • Be able to work independently.  

  • Have the ability to foresee and avert problems. Manage SMEs and interact professionally with SMEs and colleagues.  

  • Demonstrate ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously.  

  • Be flexible to deal with high velocity situations without feeling overwhelmed. 

  • Take ownership of projects throughout the content development process.  

  • Have knowledge of publishing process and MS Office. Some familiarity with EPUB, HTML5, HTML, and XML.
