Job Description:

The Berklee Emerging Technologies Lab (BEATL) is looking for a visionary, experimental, and analytically rigorous Head of Content and Audience Growth. This isn't just a marketing role; it’s a mission-critical position designed to center artists in the middle of technological change. You will lead the strategy that ensures BEATL’s research, events, and advocacy reach global audiences—from Berklee students to Silicon Valley policymakers. At Berklee, your work directly supports the next generation of creative leaders.

About the Role & Responsibilities

Reporting to the Founding Executive Director, you will bridge the gap between high-level editorial judgment and hands-on multimedia production. You’ll be tasked with building a "narrative engine" that explores the future of creative expression through a lens of responsible innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Audience Strategy & Editorial Planning: Build a content calendar that amplifies BEATL’s research, interviews, and flagship events (like the AIMS conference). You’ll tailor strategies for diverse groups, including industry leaders, researchers, the Berklee community, and the general public.
  • Multimedia Production: Capture live panels and research initiatives, then repackage them into platform-native formats for YouTube, LinkedIn, TikTok, and Substack.
  • AI-Enabled Content Systems: This is a future-forward role. You will design and deploy AI-assisted workflows using tools like Descript to automate repackaging, track industry trends via AI agents, and detect emerging conversations.
  • Social Media & Community Advocacy: Manage BEATL’s digital presence, fostering active dialogue and activating conversations around ethical technology.
  • Data-Driven Growth: Define KPIs for reach and engagement, conducting structured experiments with SEO, AEO (Answer Engine Optimization), and posting cadences to optimize impact.
  • Cross-Institutional Collaboration: Partner with Berklee’s broader Marketing and Communications teams to ensure brand alignment and maximize event attendance.

What You'll Bring

We need a systems thinker who is equally comfortable prompting an AI agent as they are editing a high-impact video or coaching a team.

Key Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience in audience development, digital media strategy, or content leadership.
  • Technical Fluency: Demonstrated experience with AI-driven editing platforms (Descript or similar) and building automated content workflows.
  • Multimedia Mastery: A proven track record of creating and "atomizing" content across various social and digital platforms.
  • Analytical Rigor: Deep understanding of performance metrics, SEO, and the emerging world of AEO.
  • Mission Alignment: A background or deep personal interest in music and creative tech, combined with a commitment to artist-centered advocacy.
  • Collaborative Spirit: Experience navigating complex institutional ecosystems while remaining "experimental" and comfortable iterating in public.

Berklee Culture & Benefits

Berklee’s mission is to educate, train, and develop the world's most inspired and innovative artists. At BEATL, you are at the cutting edge of that mission.

Here, you’ll find:

  • A "Lab" Environment: A workplace that values bold experimentation, data-driven insights, and creative fluency.
  • Mission-Driven Impact: Your work ensures that artists remain at the center of technological change rather than being sidelined by it.
  • Generous Time Off: Extensive PTO and paid holidays, including a winter break, to support your own creative battery.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Access top-tier health, dental, and life insurance, plus a generous 403(b) retirement plan and multiple pathways to maximize your retirement savings.
  • Tuition Benefits: Free or discounted courses for you and your family.
  • Cultural Access: Be at the front row of the intersection of music and tech, with access to concerts, guest artists, and global industry convenings.

Join us in defining the narrative for the future of creative expression!

Hiring Range: $110,000 to $140,000; salary dependent on relevant experience and education.
