The Opportunity
The Marketing Content Specialist develops and directs marketing content to support the overall audience-based marketing strategy. This role works closely with the Product Marketing, Communications, Brand Management and Demand Generation teams to collectively determine the strongest positioning and go-to-market messaging, in addition to the channel and content pieces designed for the target audience. The higher-level strategic marketing messaging, roadmap positioning and latest research will influence the final messaging, and the content will connect throughout the buying journey, creating concise and measurable call to actions in each medium, driving low funnel revenue growth and retention. The Content Marketing Specialist provides results-oriented guidance on budget management, content decisions and overall messaging based on performance.
Day in the Life
Writes concise, engaging and compelling content for various channels, including social media, video scripts, banner ads, newsletters and paid media.
Writes and updates web content, including landing pages, product pages and other key site elements.
Ability to repurpose long form content into multiple formats such as infographics, video clips and social posts.
Creates and collaborates on audience segmentation and personalization.
Works with the content team to develop and manage newsletters for Velera and Primax brands.
Leverages insights from social analytics, performance data and audience research to refine content formats and distribution strategies.
Implements content marketing strategies across multiple brands, ensuring a distinctive yet consistent tone and style for each.
Develops and maintains editorial and email calendars to provide views of department workload and client perception. Works with Marketing and Brand Governance Specialist to ensure timely execution of content deliverables.
Collaborates with the Content Strategy Manager and the Communications team to ensure consistency in brand voice, tone, visual identity and messaging across all channels.
Optimizes written content for SEO to improve visibility and search performance.
Analyzes and reports on content performance to inform future strategies.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in Marketing, Communications or Journalism) required.
Minimum three years of experience in marketing, marketing communications, content strategy, social media management or marketing management is required.
Experience with the financial services industry strongly preferred.
Experience with multi-channel marketing content creation essential, including video, social media and long-form content.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Background in content analytics/performance with knowledge of Google Analytics, marketing automation systems (Pardot) and Sprout Social.
Strong written communications skills in both long-form and short-form writing.
Knowledge of the financial services and credit union industries.
Effective PowerPoint presentation capabilities.
Advanced knowledge of Velera products and solutions.
Adept in all areas of demand generation content marketing, including SEO strategy, social media strategy, storytelling and editorial process to properly align with channel owners and content creation counterparts.
Ability to make quick, accurate decisions on a frequent basis, remain flexible and able to react quickly to change.
Collaborative in working with colleagues and vendors. Exceptional collaborator and influencer – ability to engage with multiple stakeholders (Demand Generation, Integrated Marketing, Marketing Performance, Corporate Communications, Brand Management, Growth and Product organizations) and quickly build relationships needed to accomplish program objectives.
