Dow Jones
Full-time
On-site

Job Description:

About the Team:

The Trust is the award-winning brand marketing and content studio of Dow Jones, publisher of The Wall Street Journal, Barron's and MarketWatch. We create credible, insight-driven storytelling for the world's most influential brands—grounded in journalistic integrity, powered by data intelligence, and distributed across Dow Jones's global platforms.

About the Role:

We are seeking an Editorial Pre-Sale Content Strategist — a senior storyteller with newsroom experience who can translate complex ideas into editorially sharp, commercially effective narratives. This is a role for a former journalist or editor who understands how to craft stories with authority, precision, and reader insight, then adapt them to serve brand objectives without losing credibility.

You will act as the editorial conscience of the pre-sale process: shaping the narratives, tone, and storytelling frameworks that define The Trust's campaigns across sectors and formats.

At The Trust, we believe the best brand stories start with editorial thinking. As a Pre-Sale Content Strategist, you will ensure every idea we take to market carries the weight, clarity, and authority that only great journalism can bring — helping global brands communicate with intelligence, empathy, and impact.

You Will:

  • Lead the editorial development of pre-sale content strategies, ensuring every proposal reflects the rigour, intelligence, and clarity associated with The Wall Street Journal.
  • Distill client objectives into editorially led ideas that align with our audience's interests and the cultural moment.
  • Partner closely with Client Partners, Integrated Marketing, and Insights teams to identify storylines that feel both commercially resonant and newsroom-credible.
  • Craft editorial frameworks, narratives, and headlines that set the tone for multi-platform campaigns — from feature-style content and data storytelling to video scripts and live event narratives.
  • Act as editor-in-chief of the pre-sale phase: reviewing language, structure, and creative positioning for coherence and authenticity.
  • Work across verticals — from business, finance, and technology to sustainability, luxury, and lifestyle — connecting global themes and industry insights into compelling content platforms.
  • Present ideas to clients with authority and narrative clarity, translating newsroom concepts into brand opportunities.
  • Mentor junior writers and content producers, raising editorial standards and helping embed newsroom sensibility across the commercial organisation.

You Have:

  • You have 12+ years of experience in journalism, branded content, or editorial strategy within a major newsroom, publisher, or high-end content environment.
  • You have held roles such as senior editor, bureau chief, feature writer, or editorial strategist, and are fluent in both narrative craft and commercial context.
  • You are an exceptional writer and conceptual thinker who can make complex ideas simple, relevant, and persuasive.
  • You bring an instinct for credibility and tone, ensuring all work feels authentic to The Wall Street Journal's editorial voice and standards.
  • You are commercially curious, audience-driven, and understand how brand narratives can be built without compromising journalistic integrity.
  • You thrive in a collaborative, fast-moving, global environment — bridging editorial and marketing worlds with ease.

Our Benefits:

  • Comprehensive Healthcare Plans
  • Paid Time Off
  • Retirement Plans
  • Comprehensive Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance Plans
  • Education Benefits
  • Paid Maternity and Paternity Leave
  • Family Care Benefits
  • Commuter Transit Program
  • Subscription Discounts
  • Employee Referral Program
