The Senior Content Strategist will serve as a lead strategist, writer, and consultant within the Strategic Communications practice. This role blends deep content expertise with sophisticated advisory capabilities, supporting complex client engagements across employee benefits, total rewards, and organizational change. This position requires exceptional writing and storytelling skills, strategic thinking, executive presence, and creativity. While this role may not initially have direct reports, it is expected to evolve into a team leadership role as the practice grows. The ideal candidate is both a hands-on content creator and a high-level consultant who can guide clients, influence stakeholders, and drive communication strategies that elevate the employee experience.

Strategic Consulting & Client Leadership
• Serve as a senior advisor to HR, benefits, and total rewards leaders, helping shape communication strategies aligned to organizational goals.
• Lead discovery sessions, assess communication needs, and develop comprehensive content strategies for annual enrollment, total rewards, employee experience, and change initiatives.
• Deliver polished recommendations and strategic insights with confidence, clarity, and executive presence.

Content Strategy & Development
• Develop messaging frameworks for complex benefits and total rewards programs.
• Independently produce high-quality, error-free content across formats including guides, websites, videos, emails, presentations, FAQs, and campaigns.
• Translate complex benefits topics into clear, compelling, employee-friendly narratives.
• Provide creative direction to writers, designers, and project teams; ensure content aligns with strategy, brand, and client voice.
• Review and edit content produced by others for quality, clarity, accuracy, and strategic alignment.

Thought Leadership & Insights
• Stay current on trends in employee benefits, workforce communication, and employee experience.
• Use analytics and insights to continuously improve content effectiveness.
• Contribute to the practice’s intellectual capital through frameworks, tools, templates, and thought leadership.

Project Leadership & Collaboration
• Lead communication workstreams on large, complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
• Collaborate with internal consultants, benefits teams, designers, and partners to create integrated deliverables.
• Support development of client editorial calendars, communication plans, and governance structures.

Growth & Team Development
• Identify opportunities to expand client relationships and drive organic growth.
• Mentor junior writers and content strategists; help establish standards, best practices, and processes.
• Over time, build and lead a team of content strategists as the practice grows.

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field.
• 8–12+ years of experience in content strategy, communications, or related roles; consulting experience preferred.
• Demonstrated expertise in employee benefits, total rewards, and complex HR topics.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a strong command of voice and clarity.
• Strong strategic thinking and consultative ability; skilled at simplifying complexity.
• Proven ability to influence and present to senior executives with confidence.
• Experience managing large, multi-channel content initiatives; strong project management skills.
• Highly collaborative, proactive, and solutions-oriented with strong attention to detail.
• Familiarity with content design, user-centered communication, and multimedia storytelling is a plus.
