Description

Senior Public Relations & Content Strategist

Flynn Wright is seeking a strategic and writing-forward Senior Public Relations & Content Strategist to help lead earned media efforts, shape brand narratives, and develop compelling content across platforms. This role is ideal for an experienced PR professional who thrives at the intersection of storytelling and strategy — someone who can translate complex ideas into clear, persuasive messaging while supporting integrated campaigns for both consumer and business-to-business audiences.

You’ll work closely with internal teams and clients to build visibility, protect reputation, and create thoughtful, high-quality content that moves business forward.

About You

You’re a seasoned communications professional who understands how strong strategy translates into meaningful results. You’re confident in advising clients, shaping messaging, and identifying opportunities that elevate brand visibility.

You thrive in fast-moving environments and bring a steady sense of ownership to every initiative. You’re proactive in identifying story angles, refining messaging, and strengthening communications plans — and you’re equally comfortable writing a press release, pitching media, or reviewing performance data. You’re collaborative, adaptable, and highly organized, with the experience to guide conversations and move projects forward without needing direct oversight.

About Us

We’re a full-service agency with offices in Des Moines, Sioux Falls, and Portland. At the heart of our success has always been human creativity. The role of brilliant individuals, and their original ideas, remains just as relevant today as when we opened our doors 40 years ago. That’s why we continue to take care of our own like we take care of our clients.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and execution of integrated public relations and content strategies that elevate brand visibility and support client and agency objectives.
  • Write and oversee the creation of high-quality content including press releases, media pitches, bylines, thought leadership articles, executive messaging, blog posts, talking points, video scripts, and social content.
  • Identify compelling story angles and secure earned media opportunities through proactive and reactive media outreach.
  • Develop messaging frameworks and shape brand voice across campaigns, ensuring consistency and clarity across all touchpoints.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with media contacts, industry partners, and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with account service, creative, digital, and media teams to support integrated campaign execution.
  • Manage timelines, coordinate with external partners or vendors when needed, and ensure projects are delivered strategically and efficiently.
  • Monitor media coverage, analyze campaign performance, and provide thoughtful reporting and recommendations based on results.
  • Contribute confidently to client conversations, offering a strategic perspective and clear communication.
  • Conduct quarterly reporting on activities to ensure tactics are successful for long-term client goals.
  • Oversee legal review processes to ensure content is approved by client’s internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • 5–8+ years of public relations and content development experience (agency experience preferred).
  • Exceptional writing skills across formats — long-form and short-form — with the ability to simplify complex or technical subject matter into compelling narratives.
  • Experienced with traditional and digital PR, including social media, with working knowledge of AP style writing standards.
  • Demonstrated experience securing earned media placements and developing proactive media strategies.
  • Experience supporting regulated, corporate, or B2B industries is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Confidence presenting ideas and collaborating directly with clients.
  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset and a strong sense of ownership over your work.
