AWS is building an AI-first content platform that transforms how we create, govern, and deliver technical documentation at enterprise scale. The Technical Content Experience (TCX) team is seeking a Senior Content Strategist to architect the intelligent content systems, governance frameworks, and information architectures that will power this platform.
In this role, you'll join a dynamic, customer-obsessed team designing the content layer that enables systems to generate accurate, brand-aligned technical content while maintaining the rigor and quality that AWS customers depend on. You'll create the governance frameworks that ensure technical content, including user guides, API references, and SDK guides, meet enterprise standards for accuracy, compliance, and usability. You'll work at the intersection of content strategy, AI systems, and developer experience, partnering with ML engineers, product teams, legal, security, and technical writers to solve complex challenges.
This is a greenfield opportunity to shape content governance and strategy for one of the world's largest technical documentation ecosystems as it enters the age of AI. If you think in systems, understand how developers actually use technical content, and are energized by building frameworks that scale, we want to hear from you.
Key job responsibilities
-Architect content strategy solutions that enable systems to generate exceptional, brand-aligned technical content, including developing prompt engineering frameworks, structured content patterns, and quality assurance mechanisms
-Create and maintain sophisticated content models, taxonomies, and metadata schemas that enable AI systems to understand technical concepts, product relationships, and user intent across the documentation ecosystem
-Design content systems and information architectures that serve multiple audiences: human developers navigating complex APIs, AI systems generating code examples, and search algorithms surfacing relevant guidance
-Establish and enforce comprehensive content governance frameworks that define standards, processes, and accountability for both human- and AI-generated content, including policies for hallucination detection, bias mitigation, version control, and human-in-the-loop review processes
-Design and manage content lifecycle frameworks that govern how content is created, reviewed, published, maintained, updated, deprecated, and archived while ensuring compliance with legal, security, and regulatory requirements
-Develop and maintain content design systems and governance documentation that enable consistent, high-quality content creation across human and AI authoring workflows
-Lead cross-functional initiatives related to AI content systems, collaborating with legal, security, product, and engineering teams to define guardrails, and present strategies and progress to senior leadership with clear, customer-focused narratives
A day in the life
Your days are varied and strategic. You might start your morning analyzing how developers use API documentation, identifying patterns that inform your next iteration of content models or prompt frameworks. You'll collaborate with ML engineers to refine how our content platform understands technical concepts, then shift to working with legal and security teams to establish governance policies for a new content type launching next quarter. Afternoons might involve designing a metadata schema that enables better semantic search, facilitating a working session with product teams to map content lifecycle requirements, or presenting your governance framework to senior leadership. You'll balance systems-level thinking with hands-on problem-solving when you discover a gap in validation processes or spot an opportunity to improve content discoverability for developers. This role is about the systems and frameworks that keep content trustworthy, scalable, and customer-obsessed.
About the team
The TCX Content Strategy team ensures that every piece of AWS technical content delivers a predictable, high-quality experience that is aligned to customer needs and business outcomes. We achieve this through rapidly prototyping new content ideas, setting quality standards and processes to maintain consistency, designing consistent content patterns, and evolving our AWS technical content strategy based on data and customer feedback. Our strategies and platform are AI-first, and we proudly and unabashedly challenge ourselves to consider what is possible and achievable (even if it hasn’t been done before).

- Experience working across teams and influencing teams that are not your own
- 5+ years of digital content management, communications, or content strategy experience
- Experience writing for developer and technical audiences - blog, product documentation, technical information
- Experience working effectively across cross-functional teams and partnering well with people at all levels within an organization
- Practical knowledge of AI content generation tools, prompt engineering techniques, and understanding of LLM capabilities and limitations in content creation
- Proven experience establishing content governance frameworks, standards, or processes for complex content ecosystems
- Strong systems thinking with ability to design scalable content architectures that serve both human and machine consumption
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience designing for accessibility and inclusivity
- Experience working directly with engineering or ML teams in production environments, with familiarity using development tools (Git, IDEs, API testing tools)
- Background designing content systems, including validation mechanisms, lifecycle management, or governance frameworks
- Knowledge of semantic technologies, knowledge graphs, metadata standards (DITA, schema.org, OpenAPI), or structured authoring methodologies
- Experience with content compliance, legal review processes, or regulatory requirements for technical documentation
- Technical degree (Computer Science, Information Science, Technical Communication) or equivalent experience in technical domains
