Who We Are 

The Research Communications team in the Division of Research at Texas A&M University supports the university’s research mission through clear, professional, and consistent communication to a wide range of stakeholders. We design and produce materials that help showcase research initiatives. Our team works with principal investigators, their collaborators, research staffs, subject matter experts and senior leadership to develop high-quality creative materials that reflect Texas A&M’s brand and message. We ensure that research communication is visually strong, strategically aligned and meets all branding standards. 

What We Do 

We design and manage creative projects across multiple platforms, including: 

  • Graphic design – Creating print, digital and multimedia materials. 

  • Branding and creative identity – Ensuring consistency across all communication channels. 

  • Event and presentation materials – Designing layouts, signage and graphics for research events. 

  • Multimedia and web content – Managing visual content for division websites and communications. 

  • Collaboration and consultation – Working with university units and vendors to produce high-quality, cost-effective designs.

We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Communications Coordinator for Strategic Digital Content. This pivotal role requires an individual who is: 

  • Proficient in Modern Content Practices: Leveraging current and emerging best practices in content creation, data-driven insights, and ethically utilizing AI tools for content optimization. 

  • Skilled in Multi-Platform Content Creation: Crafting clear, concise, and compelling written content across multiple platforms, including web, email, and emerging digital formats, to effectively communicate our division mission and impact. 

  • Adept at Content Translation: Capable of translating complex academic material into engaging narratives. 

  • A Strategic Communicator: Blending strong copywriting with strategic thinking and technological fluency to achieve measurable business outcomes

Qualifications

Required Education and Experienced

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 3 years of experience in digital-content creation or related field.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with sharp attention to clarity, grammar, and storytelling.

  • Ability to translates complex topics into clear, persuasive content.

  • Experience in SEO, UX writing, landing page optimization, and platform-specific content.

  • Skilled in AI prompt engineering and ethical use of AI tools for content creation.

  • Solid grasp of content strategy, digital marketing trends, and aligning messaging to ROI.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Presentation of a strong digital content portfolio.

  • Experience in marketing and communications with a Tier 1 research institution.

  • Skill in writing for web (SEO, landing pages), email (automation, personalization), social media, print, and multimedia.

  • Demonstrable skill with AI copy tools and prompt engineering.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, WordPress, email platforms, and analytics tools.

  • Strong data literacy with ability to translate analytics into actions.

Responsibilities

  • Research Content Creation- Develops compelling, accurate narratives that highlight the university’s research strengths, milestones, and impacts—from fundamental science to applied innovation. Translates complex academic material into accessible, engaging content for stakeholders, including funding agencies, policymakers, and cross-disciplinary collaborators. Uses advanced generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools for drafting, summation, and optimization, ensuring scholarly rigor and human editorial oversight. Adapts voice, tone, and format as required for clear and persuasive communication. Ensures content adheres to Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness (E-E-A-T) standards, brand voice, and editorial style.

  • Platform Integration & Channel Strategy- Produces content optimized for high-impact research visibility across core platforms: Web: Research landing pages, center sites, lab profiles, grant showcases; all optimized for search engine visibility (SEO) and structured metadata. Email: Invitations, announcements, memos, bulletins and newsletters. Multimedia: Video scripts, research visualizations, interactive timelines, and data storytelling. AI Discovery: Content structured for AI summarization tools (e.g., Google’s Search Generative Experience).

  • Strategy, Planning & Collaboration- Aligns content strategy with the priorities of the Vice President for Research, the Division of Research, its senior leadership, units, institutes, programs, and initiatives. Coordinates content calendars, major research announcements, and targeted campaigns. Uses analytics tools to assess impact and guide refinement. Collaborates with faculty, research development staff, and communications leads to shape messaging to key stakeholders.

  • Operations- Maintains organized archives of published content, campaign assets, and performance data with consistent taxonomy and version control. Develops reusable content systems to support adaptation across proposals, annual reports, and external reviews. Ensures compliance with accessibility, privacy, intellectual property, and brand standards.

  • Professional Development- Keeps current with trends in research communication, digital strategy, AI-enhanced content, open science, and science policy. Participates in relevant higher education and research communication communities. Trains and mentors graduate assistants in digital content creations. Contributes to a culture of innovation, clarity, and excellence in research communications.

Other Requirements and Factors

  • This position may occasionally include some evening and weekend work to meet deadlines or support events.

  • This position is security sensitive.

  • This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and TAMU policies, regulations, rules, and procedures.
