Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: As an integral contributor to The Office of Admission, The Content Manager and Marketing Specialist directly contributes to the creation and distribution of digital, print, and video marketing in accordance with University brand identity. Responsibilities include producing and publishing content; writing, editing and proofreading; formulating content strategies; and using analytics to design and drive multimedia communications. This role also serves as the primary website manager for the Office of Admission, with a focus on content and search engine optimization. The Content Manager and Marketing Specialist coordinates logistics by working collaboratively with admission communication team colleagues, University Communications, and external vendors to create content that informs and engages prospective and admitted students, their families, and school and community-based counselors. The work of this role will support recruitment and enrollment of new students as part of a highly collaborative and progressive team.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITES:

Content Creation and Management

  • Produce brand-aligned marketing as a content creation leader and copywriter for the Admission Team, contributing to dynamic content across channels including print, web, video, electronic correspondence, and other media.

  • Serve as primary admission website manager. Liaise with campus partners including but not limited to web teams in University Communications and Information Services to strategize functional redesigns to the admission website and coordinate updates to other University sites as it impacts admission recruitment, application, and yield processes. 

  • Track web analytics using to ascertain content engagement levels and optimize the user journey.

  • Concept, design, test, and maintain promotional materials including but not limited to: email marketing, event communication, mailers and publications, video content, fact sheets, digital ads, college search profile pages, public presentations, and other collateral.

  • Produce and maintain video marketing collateral, serving as a content advisor to student video intern(s).

  • Provide editorial, creative and technical support to team members and assist with the annual development and implementation of the office’s strategic marketing and communication plans. 

  • Manage market research collection for Communication and Marketing Team. Analyze communication trends at competitor institutions and offer recommendations to influence recruitment marketing strategy.

  • Liaise with the Office of Institutional Effectiveness to verify admission data and complete surveys to ensure accurate information about the University is distributed to on- and off- campus audiences. Maintain an active and current database of statistics and rankings.

General Administrative Support

  • Oversee multiple admission email accounts. Respond to questions and process requests for information. Update Slate and other systems as necessary for student correspondence, questions about application status portal, and response to admission decisions

  • Assist with open houses and on-campus events and serve as backup member to cover reception area and phones. 

  • Other duties as assigned to support the Office of Admission and University mission and goals.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT:

  • Occasional early morning/evening/weekend work is required.

  • Works in-person, on-campus 

  • Long periods of sitting, using a keyboard, viewing a monitor.

  • Occasion need for standing when covering event registration or office reception area.

  • Occasional need for lifting boxes weighting up to 30 lbs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Creativity and the ability to develop original content

  • Knowledge of relational databases and CRM strongly preferred.

  • Basic technical knowledge of HTML and web publishing strongly preferred

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud: InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere, and Photoshop, and experience with Google Analytics, Google Ads Manager, Google Ads, video, and photography preferred.   

  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting access to selective university admission for historically underserved student populations. 

  • Experience in supporting inclusion and a sense of belonging within a diverse community of students, faculty and staff. 

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks concurrently coupled with excellent organizational skills and highest standards for accuracy. 

  • Critical thinker and worker with advanced problem-solving capabilities, creativity, and strong work ethic. 

  • Demonstrated success working collaboratively with various internal and external constituencies. 

Education & experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required; degree in communications, journalism, English, marketing, or related field is preferred.

  • Two years successful agency or experience in a similar role is preferred. Experience with nonprofits or higher education preferred.

Work hours:

  • Full-time, exempt position

  • Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; 7.75 hrs./day; 38.75 hrs./week 

  • Evening and weekend hours are required.

SALARY STRUCTURE:

Pay Grade 5 (Hiring Range $41,018.00 to $54,350.00 annually)
