Purpose:
Do you geek out over the ever-evolving world of search and AI? Are you the kind of writer who keeps one eye on the latest “how-to” articles and the other on Google’s newest algorithm update? If you’ve ever lost sleep over shifting SEO trends, or if “early adopter” is basically your middle name, you might be our kind of copywriter.
Well, scratch that. We’re not looking for a traditional copywriter.
We’re looking for a content strategist who happens to write really, really well… someone who can balance bold creativity with digital smarts.
Here’s the breakdown:
About 40% of your time will go toward classic advertising copy. Flyers, brochures, posters, billboards, magazine ads.
About 60% will focus on digital media: Webpages, blogs, news articles, paid media campaigns, and whatever new platforms the internet dreams up next.
SEO and GEO? They’re not just acronyms to you. They’re second languages.
What Your Day Might Look Like
This role is a mashup of big-idea creativity and sharp digital strategy. You’ll dream up campaign concepts worthy of awards (Addys, anyone?) while also obsessing over the right keywords, calls-to-action, and content flow to drive measurable results.
You’ll write content that:
Generates traffic to our site
Boosts applications from prospective students
Builds engagement with our audience
And you won’t do it alone. You’ll collaborate with an in-house team of graphic designers, a video production specialist, and a web developer, plus our external agency partners. Together, you’ll craft content that gets noticed, gets clicks, and gets results.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Be our search whisperer. Develop and drive a smart SEO and GEO strategy that speaks the language of both search engines and AI models, because visibility isn’t just about page one anymore.
Write it, shape it, own it. From blogs and FAQs to social posts and digital news, you’ll create content that stays on-brand, consistent, and compelling.
Claim the spotlight. Help position us as a go-to authority in both search rankings and AI-generated answers, tackling the rise of “zero-click” results head-on.
Collaborate and connect. Partner with the other members of our creative team and departments across campus to align content strategies with branding and enrollment goals.
Mix it up. Yes, you’ll sometimes write for flyers, brochures, and print ads, but most of your words will live online: blogs, webpages, press releases, emails, and digital campaigns.
Measure what matters. Use analytics tools to track performance, refine strategies, and keep content optimized for search engines and AI-driven platforms.
Stay fresh. Audit content regularly, fine-tune for new algorithms, and keep our copy relevant as the digital landscape evolves.
Be a trend hawk. Stay ahead of the curve on SEO, GEO, NLP, algorithm shifts, and emerging AI-driven tools. (Translation: keep your finger firmly on the pulse of what’s next.)
Minimum Qualifications
At least 3 years of content strategy + copywriting experience, with a portfolio that spans both digital campaigns and traditional print.
A Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
Strong chops in SEO principles and keyword research: You know how to get content noticed.
Comfortable diving into analytics tools like Google Analytics, Semrush, and AI-focused insight platforms.
Excellent project management skills. Able to juggle tasks, hit deadlines, and prioritize smartly.
A strategic mindset that balances creativity with measurable impact.
Outstanding copywriting and editing skills with attention to detail.
Working knowledge of generative AI technologies and GEO principles—understanding how they complement (and differ from) traditional SEO.
Submission of a portfolio of work is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Background in higher education marketing or experience at an agency (a plus, not a must).
Experience marketing to Gen-Z / young adult audiences in a fast-paced environment.
SEO and/or GEO certification is the cherry on top.
