SWN Content Creators wake up excited about generating and publishing engaging, high-quality digital content across all of our SWN digital properties including Crosswalk.com, BibleStudyTools.com, Christianity.com, iBelieve.com, LifeAudio.com and GodTube.com. Our team delivers compelling articles, news summaries, videos, devotionals and podcasts about Faith, the Bible, the Church and Christian Living to an audience of millions, including paid premium subscribers. The ideal candidate for this headlines-specific position will primarily engage our users by selecting news stories of interest to our Christian audience (current events, breaking news, Christian celebrity, etc.), utilizing idea generation, strong titling, strategic use of email newsletters, browser push, SEO and social media while becoming a contributor to the overall, collaborative vision of the SWN Editorial team.

Responsibilities

Duties include interfacing with freelancers, influencers and other content providers, editing and uploading a substantial quantity of content, managing user feedback, generating newsletters, providing data-based input on strategy and design, as well as the opportunity to generate your own news summaries, devotionals, interviews, podcasts or short-form videos. A daily portion of this role will also involve social media creation (roughly 8 to 10 posts a day), along with PDF creation from assigning writers PDF ideas to designing the final product in Canva.

Qualifications

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with a degree in Online Media, Journalism, English, Communications or equivalent experience. 1-2 years experience managing editorial/web projects, or working in news, even at the college/internship level, is a plus
  • Strong, conversational understanding of Evangelical Christian culture and the topics, issues and personalities shaping it, as well as familiarity with our Christian audience’s interests, behavior and values
  • Excellent editing and writing skills, with experience writing to deadline. Successful candidates may be asked to complete an editorial test
  • Experience with, and interest in, podcasts, short-form video, interviews and other forms of non-text-based media is preferred
  • Experience with graphic design and photoshopping preferred (Canva Pro)
  • Data/AI-driven (Google Analytics/GA4, CMS reporting, ChatGPT) approach to decision making
  • Innovation, creativity, a strong work ethic and ability to operate productively in both team and individual environments
  • Marketing and social media experience a plus
  • SWN is part of a publicly-traded company dealing in faith-based content, so a comfort with both corporate and religious communities is essential

About Us

The SWN websites exist to offer fresh and compelling biblically-based content to those who are interested in following Jesus, regardless of where they find themselves on that journey. We work hard to provide timely, pertinent, searchable, intriguing, and life-enhancing material from qualified, respected Christian sources, with an understanding that the Christian faith applies to all areas of life. The SWN editorial team manages content for the following online brands:

  • Crosswalk.com offers content that helps Christians apply their faith to the daily issues they face in their church, family, community and culture. Within Crosswalk, CrosswalkHeadlines covers religious news and commentary on issues of particular interest to an evangelical audience without bias in the reporting.

  • BibleStudyTools.com offers the highest quality features and resources to aid Christians in a better practical understanding of the Bible.

  • Christianity.com provides a wiki where people of all faiths or levels of belief can find answers to questions about the Christian faith.

  • iBelieve.com provides an emphasis on personal, faith-filled experiences, publishing an authentic examination of what it means to be a Christian woman in today's culture.

Content created by the SWN editorial team is often syndicated to the Salem Communications “faith talk” radio station websites.
