A vital member of our marketing team, the Senior Content Strategist leads impactful content campaigns and crafts key messages that align with the university’s brand message and strategic goals. This role is responsible for developing content that resonates with our target audiences across a multitude of channels. The Senior Content Strategist is a collaborator, working with rest of marketing and communications team — writers, designers and strategists — to bring Creighton’s stories to life in a way that pushes the brand forward. Part strategist and part doer, the Senior Content Strategist plans, develops, executes and measures comprehensive omni-channel digital content campaigns.
This role requires someone with a vision for content: Someone who can see how content can drive growth for the university. The Senior Content Strategist develops audience personas, customer journey maps, content distribution plans and multimedia content for Creighton University in support of the university’s strategic initiatives. The Senior Content Strategist is adept at using data to identify insights on how content is performing and builds data-driven content strategies.
The Senior Content Strategist takes a pivotal role in shaping the university’s brand narrative, creating content plans that deliver compelling stories that make an impact to audiences across channels. The Senior Content Strategist works cross-functionally and drives ideation for original content, recommends effective distribution strategies, develops content and builds and improves processes to effectively create and distribute.
The Senior Content Strategist will:
• Help drive a cohesive content strategy for Creighton University by planning, creating and reviewing impactful content across channels.
• Work with content strategists, content developers and subject matter experts as well as marketing, communications, social media, web and creative teams to implement the content strategy, including content audits and web content optimization.
• Create audience-focused content plans with goals that align to university growth and feature key messages tied to target audiences. Plans span the entire content lifecycle from ideation and content creation through distribution. Present briefs to campus partners to ensure collaboration.
• Use data to guide content strategy across digital channels including web, social media, email, video and more, making recommendations to peers and stakeholders on content initiatives.
• Track and manage content performance and engagement to measure impact and provide insights to refine the content strategy.
• Ensure consistency of messaging and the highest standards for content produced across all channels, including digital advertising, marketing materials, websites, social media and video.
• Write creatively while remaining aligned with our strategic vision and incorporating key messages into compelling narratives.
• Bring a relentless sense of curiosity to test and iterate new messages on new platforms to reach the university’s target audiences.
• Have excellent attention to detail to ensure the accuracy of our content and standards of the university.
• Learn the complexities of Creighton’s schools, colleges and divisions and clearly articulate the value of a Creighton education including the particulars of programs, degrees and services available to students.
• Harness the university’s established brand voice and utilize tone appropriate for a variety of content forms and channels.
• Work within established processes to ensure consistent content workflow within the team and proactively contribute to optimizing processes.
Essential Functions:
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications or related field is required.
• 5–7 years of progressive marketing experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Proven ability and experience in building brands through digital content and content marketing.
• Demonstrated success delivering content programs in different digital environments, such as content management systems, email marketing and multi-channel marketing and communications.
• Understanding of the overall digital media landscape.
• Experience managing multiple, often fast-paced projects simultaneously.
