Job Summary:
The Social Media Content Manager develops, designs and publishes engaging multimedia content for Drury University’s web and social media platforms, ensuring that content aligns with Drury brand strategy, student engagement and recruitment marketing goals, website/social media best practices and Drury’s editorial style. They manage the university’s social media channels, developing and executing creative multimedia content strategies that support college goals and effectively engage stakeholder communities both internally and externally. The Social Media Content Manager so assists in making updates to the Drury University website, utilizing Search Engine Optimization (SEO) best practices in content creation and ensuring all materials meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) guidelines.
The Social Media Content Manager should stay updated on emerging digital trends and be prepared to make recommendations to the Marketing and Communications team.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Create content calendar for Drury social media platforms and execute the content plan. This include writing content, taking photographs and shooting video as needed as well as basic photo editing.
- Working closely with University Writer / Editor to ensure content is written accuracy and within Drury standards.
- Conduct interview with students, faculty and other members of Drury community as well as meets with various university clients to generate content for social media.
- Closely tracks and analyzes engagement and reach on Drury social media platforms.
- Organizing and maintaining departmental photo library on server platform
- Deliver great user experiences on Drury University website to assist in recruitment of prospective students and employees, and provide information for current students, faculty, staff, alumni and other relevant parties.
- Coordinate & collaborate directly with a designated contact in each campus department to ensure web content is current, relevant, compelling and consistent. Maintain an ongoing process for updating each department’s web presence.
- Ensure all new and existing content is WCAG (AA) compliant.
- Assist in monitoring Drury-run digital ads, as needed.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Experience with social media, content management systems and basic web development software preferred.
- Basic HTML, CSS, and background knowledge of web technologies.
- Working knowledge of AP style required.
- Basic understanding of web communication, online marketing techniques and public image concepts.
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn WCAG compliance guidelines.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
- Strong design and presentation skills required.
- Superb interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent written English skills with an eye for detail in grammar, spelling, punctuation, and presentation.
- Ability to learn and master new technologies.
- Ability to focus attention to details and concentrate for proofing documents and providing accurate corrections
- Ability to proofread based on existing style guidelines.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload, and adapt as situations demand.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, English, public relations, marketing or closely related field
- One year of experience in digital communications
Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
May supervise student staff members. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Physical Requirements:
